The Hidden Cost of Slow Decisions (And How to Fix It Without Losing Control)

Every delayed decision has a cost — missed opportunities, frustrated teams and work that waits in a queue. Because it rarely shows up in a report, it is easy to ignore.

Not every decision deserves the same process. Separate reversible decisions, which can be made quickly by the people closest to the work, from irreversible ones, which deserve deeper thought.

Give teams clear decision rights: who decides, who is consulted and who is simply informed. Set a deadline for every open decision so it doesn't drift.

Speed and control are not opposites. Clear boundaries let leaders step back from small calls and focus their attention where it truly matters.
